    How we measure

How the number is worked out.

Every score comes with the questions we asked, the answers that came back, the date, and a label telling you what's measured and what's estimated. Here's the whole method, including what the check can't see.

What we ask, and where the questions come from

We check the AI tools your customers are most likely to use, including ChatGPT, Google's AI answers, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. The questions are the ones a homeowner types when their furnace quits at eleven at night. Some of those tools we ask directly. For the others we work out the likely answer from what's already public, and that part carries an estimated label.

Which questions you get comes down to your trade and the area you work, and both of those come off your own website, so there's no form to fill in and no category to guess at. We use the words customers type when they're looking for you, not marketing phrases.

You see the full list. Every question we asked sits in your result, word for word, and a check takes 20 to 45 seconds.

What counts as your name coming up

Two things count, and we keep them apart. One is when an AI tool says your business name in the answer a homeowner reads. They've heard of you now. The other is when AI links to your website, which can happen without your name in the answer at all.

A near miss isn't a yes. If the answer names the shop two streets over and mentions your neighbourhood, you weren't named. We don't round that up in your favour.

One score, and the labels on it

You get one overall score. There's no separate number for each tool. The tools don't word their answers the same way and they don't give the same answer twice, so a number per tool would look firmer than it really is. One score, with the real answers sitting under it, tells you more.

Some of what we show is measured and some is estimated. Measured means we asked and wrote down what came back. Estimated means we worked it out from what's already public about your business. Anything estimated carries that label right beside the number, and where there's no label it means we asked and that's what came back.

What the check can't tell you

AI answers move. Reword the question and the names change. Ask from a different city and you get a different list again. Monday's answer and Thursday's often don't match.

So a result is true for the moment it was taken, and nothing more. That's why the date we asked sits beside every answer.

The check only looks at what's already public. Your website and your public listings, the same things any customer or AI tool can see, so we don't need a login and we won't ask you for one.

    Here's what we can't see.

    • Why a tool picked the shop down the road and not you.
    • What goes on inside the tools. We only see the answers.
    • Whether tomorrow's answer matches today's. Often it won't.
    • The calls you never got. Nobody can count those.

If a result looks wrong, tell us. Send the question and what you think should have come back. We'll ask it again and show you what we get, and if we got it wrong we'll say so and fix it.

    See yours

That's the method. If it holds up, the form's at the top of the home page. The check is free and there's no credit card.
